Bluegrass Gospel is one of three sub genres in Bluegrass music, alongside traditional and progressive bluegrass. While
it is characterized as its own sub genre, it is frequently played in mainstream Bluegrass ever since its "creation" in the
1940s. It is characterized by abundant three and four part harmonies and is often sung both with instruments and A Capella.
Occasionally in the early days of bluegrass one could find only a guitar playing lead breaks. This allowed allowed a more
acceptable form of gospel to one or more specific religions that viewed instruments such as the banjo and fiddle profane.
Its is no secret that numerous big-name bluegrass and early country singers such as Lester Flatt, Ricky Skaggs. and Bill
